Jonathan Stirling's new play Today, Tomorrow, Forever had its first taste of the stage on Thursday in the Barn Theatre at Rose Bruford College. The staged reading also featured another of our In Stitches gang, Cameron Baker-Stewart.
"This play comes from a place of powerlessness. When confronted with the horrors of war in Europe, I couldn’t stay silent or static, I had to act. That’s where Today, Tomorrow, Forever came from." - Jonathan Stirling, 2023
The play was initially developed as part of a final project for the Theatre and Social Change degree that Jonathan has been studying on for the past three years. But now he has bigger dreams for the play.
After a successful first public outing, Joanthan plans to develop a new finalised text, with which he will approach venues and fringes to produce, alongside submitting the script to competitions and open submissions, like The Royal Court, The Bush and more.
As he nears the end of his higher education experience and theatre training, it is great that he has a nearly completed playtext to catapult into the professional industry with him.

Read on for a brief synopsis of Today, Tomorrow, Forever by Jonathan Stirling.
The tragedy of war reaches far beyond the battlefield.
Dragged into an illegal conflict by their government, a young couple must try and survive in a world where their lives are constantly under threat. Things only get more out of hand when a friend in need arrives and family ties become stretched, perhaps beyond repair. Today, Tomorrow, Forever explores honesty, responsibility and doing the right thing when it seems the whole world is against you.
Perhaps all isn’t fair in love and war…
